After a long flight and some not so good sleep, we landed in London. I was surprised to find my luggage looking like this:
Apparently it had fallen off the luggage truck in Richmond and was dragged under the wheels! They kindly gave me a new bag so I could repack and make it to my hotel.
After a quick lunch, we headed into main London for some sightseeing.
Our first stop was Tower of London. Here we saw the dungeons and towers that made up the sight. Until a couple hundred years ago, this is where British royalty lived. The Crowned Jewels are also kept here. The grassy area in the front used to be a moat.
From there we walked to the Tower Bridge. This is different than London Bridge. That's a walkway across the top. Drew and I walked up the 208 steps from the street level to the walkway.
On part of the walkway there was a glass bottom that you can walk across. Here is a picture of Drew laying down on the glass with the road beneath him.
Here is a panorama of the London skyline at sunset from the bridge.
After such a long say of traveling and sightseeing we decided to call it quits for the day. We were supposed to visit the London Eye, but decided to move that until Sunday.
We took the subway or tube back to our hotel.
We got a pizza from across the road from our hotel, ate it quickly, and went to bed at 8:30!
