Signature Saturday
Signature Saturday is a genealogy blogging prompt where you post a copy of an ancestor’s signature. For my inaugural post using this prompt, let me introduce you to Cecelia Strahle and Frank Hillenbrand, my Great Grandparents.
These signatures, as you can guess by the words underneath them, are from their marriage license.
Frank and Cecelia were married on Saturday, September, 4, 1909 in Brooklyn, New York. From their marriage certificate, they were married at Emmanuel Evangelical U.B. Church which was located at that time at 400 Melrose St. while Frank and Cecelia listed their address on their license as being several blocks away at 83 George St., Brooklyn. By the time of the 1910 US Census, Frank and Cecelia were living at 283 Melrose. A few blocks in the opposite direction.

Frank was 24 at the time and Cecelia was 18. Best man was one of Frank’s younger brothers, John. Cecelia’s Matron of Honor, was Eva Fuhrmann.

ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this post and especially seeing the original (and very neat) handwriting of your ancestors.
