When tracing family history, we often look for official documents—census records, passenger manifests, and marriage certificates. But sometimes the clearest evidence of where we come from sits right on the dinner table.

Unfortunately, at this time I am unable to locate any records that indicate if she was born in the town of Darmstadt or in another town in the Hesse-Darmstadt German state. Also, I'm not able to locate a document which gives us Katherina's maiden name.
