Family Recipe Friday #1: Crumb Cake

Family Recipe Friday is a genealogy blogging post prompt suggested by by Lynn Palermo of The Armchair Genealogist where you share recipes with family and fellow bloggers.

So for today's recipe, I would like to share a recipe from my grandmother that I loved when she would make it.  My grandmother, Emma Dorothy Hillenbrand Olsen, loved this coffee crumb cake recipe and she would make it all the time to take to people or gatherings.  She loved the cake so much that she had 3 copies of the recipe for it in her recipe box!  I am sharing the copy of the recipe that is in her handwriting.  We're not sure where exactly she got the recipe from, but the other two copies of the recipe in her box reference a Mr. Bruder.

The recipe can also be called New York Crumb Cake or even German Crumb Cake.

  1. I don't know which is better -- the recipe or that fabulous recipe box! Will have to share this with my sister, who is our family baker.
