Wordless Wednesday #1: Caroline Schmitz Gillen (1888-1959)

What is "Wordless Wednesday?"  On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the ‘wordless’ title. The idea is that the photo itself says so much that it doesn’t need any description.

Grandpa Gillen's House

Recently I received an email from my mother that my Great Grandfather's house had been torn down in 2014 to make way for a new house.  I wanted to document a little about what I knew about the house.

Day 12: Versailles

After two late days, and 4 early days, we slept in and had a late start to the day.  Today we took, the train to the Chateau Versilles.  After seeing Versilles, you can appreciate why King Ludvig of Bavaria tried to copy many elements of Versilles in Linderhoff.

Day 11: Normandy

Another early morning and we couldn't find a cafe open to eat breakfast in :-(. So when our ride for the Normandy tour showed up, we left hungry.  Luckily, there was a planned stop about halfway to Normandy for breakfast that we didn't know about.

Normandy is about 200 miles from Paris, so we had a long day of riding in store for us.
